A few years ago, I got in a real financial bind. I thought about canceling my gym membership. Watering down my kombucha. Turning my daily contact lenses into weekly contact lenses. Cut, cut, cut. But then I realized something: No matter how many things I cut, the lowest my expenses could ever go was zero. And my quality of life would suffer tremendously. So, instead of focusing on how much I could cut, I focused on how much I could earn. The lowest the expenses could go was to $0. But the income could go to... well, infinity. In other words, it's much easier to make $1,000/mo than it is to cut $1,000/mo out of your budget. This realization flipped my mindset around, and is now at the backbone of how I run my life, business, and finances. Yes, I'm a good steward of my resources and still keep an eye on my expenses...I'm not saying to be wasteful. But... I spend much more time, effort, and energy on the income side of the ledger. You don't have to scrape away expenses with a spoon. You can start piling up the profits with a shovel. You got this, ~ Cody |
