I just wrapped up a chat with my Laidback Membership folks. They are a super smart bunch, and we had fun brainstorming ways to make our memberships grow. The subject of "quick wins" came up. Specifically, in the form of a 7-day Challenge to run immediately upon joining. That way, new members get a quick win, which will increase the odds they'll stick around. Someone raised their hand and talked about a new group she had just joined. The host held a 7-day Challenge with one key difference: It was completely overwhelming. The content took hours a day to execute. It wasn't like drinking out of a firehose. It was like the dam burst. So, she quit. Which got me thinking of a better way to onboard new members: Give them a meaningful, credible, timely win.
Miss any one of those ingredients and it won't work. If it's not meaningful, they won't join. If it's not credible, you won't deliver. If it's not timely, they won't stay. So if you're looking for a way to grow your course, membership, cohort, or coaching program... Give them an MCT Win (Meaningful, Credible, and Timely). Happy customers (who stay and pay) await.
