use AI for this, not that.

The best part of my day happens in the carpool lane.

Well, technically, before then.

My youngest, Ben, is 15. He has his learner's permit, so his independence clock is ticking.

But for now, we drive him to and from school.

He's not particularly chatty, but it's a great moment of screen-free connection and conversation.

The best part of my week is date night with my wife.

We pick a new restaurant in town and spend a few hours chatting and exploring our town.

I wouldn't trade it for anything.

So here's a stupid AI use case:

I could use AI to create a voice clone of myself to chat with my son. In the near future, send a driverless taxi to ferry him around.

I could program a script in Claude Code to send my wife a text message saying "I love you" every day at 6:00am, then automatically order DoorDash and flowers.

Productivity experts would applaud how much time I saved.

On the business side...

I could send my AI clone to coaching calls with clients.

And I could create an "email sending app" so I never type these words to you again.

Just because AI can do something doesn't mean it should.

You don't have to automate everything with a chatbot.

You're not falling behind if you still enjoy leisurely conversations and deep connections.

So here's my "DOS" and "DONTS" for AI:

✅ DO use AI for:

  • Brainstorming hooks for ads
  • Proofreading my new book
  • Automating menial tasks
  • Breaking down huge chunks of data

❌ DON'T use AI for:

  • Writing
  • Creating content
  • Coaching
  • Date nights 😀

I'll put it this way:

Use AI to automate the mundane.

But don't forget to keep the humane.

You got this,

~ Cody
