"Beware of chickens." As soon as we touched down in Kauai on Sunday, we were surrounded by chickens. Chickens at baggage claim. Chickens at the rental car lot. Chickens in the Costco parking lot. It was novel at first. Every chicken was like seeing a shooting star. My cul-de-sac kids don't see many animals, other than the squirrels that steal seeds from the bird feeder. "How long will it take for us not to say 'CHICKEN!!!' every time we see a chicken?" I wondered aloud. The answer: about 2 days. I'd estimate we've seen somewhere between 1.8 and 2.1 million chickens at this point. They are more common in Kauai than palm trees. So we've lost interest. They fade into the background. Novelty wears off over time. Our products are the same. When we make something new, it's more exciting than a chicken sitting on your suitcase. But, to us, our workshops, programs, and offers get old over time. We see them every day, so we lose interest and file them away. Maybe you're a bit like me and your hard drive is full of old trainings, worksheets, workshops, and sellable content. Your "stuff" may feel old and stale to you, but I have a hunch there are people who would love to buy it and use it. Take a minute to comb through your drive. What workshop, course, or training have you already taught that is now sitting idle? Pick it up, dust it off, polish it up, and sell it to someone who wants it. Bonus points if you add order bumps, upsells, and downsells to increase average order value. Double bonus points if you use it to sell your main offer on the back end.
