When it comes to food, I like what I like. So last night, my wife Christy and I went to a fancy Italian restaurant for her birthday. The menu was mostly in Italian, which might as well have been Greek. But I saw something familiar (carbonara) and decided that was my safe bet. The waiter smiled and said, “May I make a recommendation?” He described a dish I’d never heard of and told me where the meat came from, how it was prepared, and the unique combination of spices and flavors. "It's the best thing on the menu," he declared. By the time he finished his pitch, I wasn’t just interested—I was excited. So I ordered it. And he was right. It was incredible. Funny how that works. We default to the easy choice because it’s safe and familiar. But sometimes, the better choice is just one great recommendation away. Food for thought as we head into the weekend.
