On Tuesday, I got the email no homeowner wants to receive. It was from my water company, and the subject line said: Possible Water Leak We've been in this house for 19 years, so stuff is starting to break down. When I saw the email, I leapt up from my office chair and ran into the utility room that shares a wall with my basement home office. No water on the floor, which is good. But I saw the meter was spinning, meaning that water was running somewhere (which is bad). Water heater was good (mercifully). Nothing obvious outside. So I grabbed some food coloring from the spice rack in the kitchen and headed for the toilets. I dropped some red food coloring in the tanks of all 3 toilets and... I found it. My son's toilet water turned pink. We made 3-4 trips to Lowe's, replacing different parts before finally deciding to replace the whole thing. No more leaking. I'm no fan of leaking in basements or in business. And if your business isn't going great, here are the places I'd check for leaks: (1) Attraction Are you getting enough people into your world (social) and onto your email list? Is your list shrinking, stagnating, or stalling? If you need help with the attraction part of your business, this will help. (2) Conversion Once people are in your world, do they buy from you? And when they buy, do they buy again? If you have plenty of people in your audience but they're not buying, this will help. (3) Delivery When people buy your stuff, do you deliver a quality experience? Do they get the outcome that you promised? If not, creating a clear SOP will help you deliver clear, consistent outcomes. ... If you always have a fresh flow of new people into your world... Who love to buy your stuff... And get a great outcome.... You're gonna win. Period. You got this, ~ Cody "Leak-Proof" Burch |
