I'm 3 weeks into my public attempt to build a $100k/mo business with workshops and Skool.

And it was a good reminder that progress doesn't always mean every number goes up.

My 1-time payment community grew from 127 > 165 people and has created about $6k in "seed money" for FB Ads.

(I recommend making money first, and then paying for Ads).

But...

My email list shrank again, and my MRR went down by $100 b/c someone left, and another joined at a slightly lower rate.

That's why I have a love/hate relationship with my real-time updates. It's not always glamorous.

But, hey, hope you enjoy the transparency.

Here's what I learned this week:

(1) Listen to your people

When I dreamed up the curriculum for the Workshop Revolution, I mapped out a nice logical plan.

Foundation first. Then offers. Then promotion. Then sales.

But when I asked members what they wanted help with…

They overwhelmingly said offers (making sales).

So I’m calibrating a bit.

  • I'll still add foundational content
  • But the weekly workshops will focus more on offers and leads

Remember to enter your offers into the conversation they're already having.

2. Small + cheap = hard

Alright, let's talk about low ticket.

If you have a massive audience, you can sell cheap stuff all day.

But if you have a small audience and a tiny offer, the math is not in your favor.

You're making the game unnecessarily difficult.

If your goal is to make $10k/m for example, would you rather:

  • Sell 1,000 people a $10 thing?
  • Sell 5 people a $2k thing?

Believe me, it's much easier to sell a higher-priced offer, and you only need a few to make it work.

3. "Why now?"

I’m trying to get Workshop Accelerator from 22 clients to 30.

So instead of just saying:

“Hey, this program is cool. You should join.”

I’m asking a better question:

Why would a prospective buyer join right now?

Black Friday is coming.

The end of the year is coming.

People want to finish the year strong.

And while my program is still small, I can give early members things I won’t be able to offer forever, like direct coaching with me.

That’s a much better reason to move than fake scarcity.

There’s a bunch more in this week’s video.

I show the actual scoreboard, talk about the client who disappeared on me, explain how I’m testing selling through DMs instead of sales calls, and lay out what I’m focused on next.

The video is about 14 minutes.

I’m trying not to turn these weekly emails into “HEY I MADE A VIDEO, PLEASE WATCH IT.”

So even if you never click that link…

Hope you still got some value out of today's email.

But if you like seeing how the kombucha gets made, this week’s update is a good one.
