In 2018, I tried (and failed) to launch a course with a webinar.

I had no audience, so I got cold traffic from ads for around $8 a lead.

32 registered.

8 showed.

None stayed till the offer.

I was crushed. I felt like I stuck my hand out to pet a dog and it bit me.

No more webinars for me, I guess.

I retreated back into agency work. People were paying me $2k/mo to run their ads to sell their courses.

It paid well, but there was a compensation gap. I was helping them make 5- and 6-figures in a month, and I only charged $2k.

It was years before I ever tried a free webinar again.

Well, this last month has been a breakthrough.

Here's the story:

I'm running an 8-week cohort for a handful of other business owners to show them how to build a lean, laid-back business of their own.

The best way to teach is to demonstrate, so last month I hosted a paid workshop to show them how I do monthly workshops.

It went fine.

I sold 56 tickets to the "Lead Machine" Workshop. Another 21 bought the order bump.

After the workshop, I sold 10 tickets to a 4-week implementation cohort.

I made $2,073.55 in workshop ticket sales. Another $611.10 in order bumps. And $3,970 in back-end sales into the cohort.

Not bad.

Every $6,654.65 helps, right?

Well, some people in the cohort didn't wanna run a paid workshop. They wanted to do a free one.

OK, fine, I'll show ya how those work, too.

"Hold my kombucha," I said as I set up the reg page.

It was almost a dare.

On April 10th, I hosted a free training on how I'm using Claude Skills to run my 1-man operation that generates just over $1,000/day in revenue.

I made an offer on the back-end to a new thing called "The Laid Back Business OS" and a bunch of people bought it.

...

I ran it again on April 20th and again earlier today.

So far, 67 people have enrolled in the OS in April.

So, what do you do when something works?

You do it again.

And again.

And again.

I guess I've gotten that nasty webinar gremlin off my back.

Only took me 8 years.
