Deep Dive: The $5 Experiment

Happy Anniversary

Email School is 1 year old.

It launched on November 5th, the night of the last US Presidential Election (not intentional).

It's been a big success in every measure.

  • 256 Active members
  • 123 that have canceled (thanks for checking it out!)
  • 1 Banned (long story)
  • $57,343 in revenue

We've laughed.

We've cried.

We've sent emails.

How it Grows

The main way it grows is during a specific promotional window.

  • Founding member launch (lock in the lowest price if you joined during the first 3 days)
  • Price hike campaigns
  • Waitlists

And so on.

If you've read this newsletter for any period of time, you know that only 2-3 people per month will jump in if I'm not in a promo window.

Makes sense.

If the price and deliverables remain the same today and tomorrow, there is no reason to buy today other than personal urgency.

Skool Tiers

Skool (where I host Email School) now has a tiers feature.

So I created a lower-priced, $5 per month Tier.

I toiled for weeks over what I would include for just $5/mo.

Then, it hit me.

What's the smallest, most meaningful outcome I can confidently create in my Email Membership?

Not theory.

A meaningful, tangible, credible outcome.

Here's what's in it: https://www.skool.com/cody/plans

I took one of my best-selling workshops and CustomGPTs on how to write a Welcome Series.

I knew it was the right move when every fiber of my being pushed back at the idea.

It felt too generous.

It felt ludicrous.

So, I did it.

Early Results

Email School is now just $5/mo to join.

Since I announced the $5/mo plan, 6 have joined at that level.

1 joined the mid level ($49/mo).

1 joined the annual ($390/yr).

My hope is that I lower the barrier to entry to inches above the floor, and it becomes a no-brainer to get in.

Pay me $5.

Let my CustomGPT write your Welcome Series.

Sounds like a good deal.

Then...

When you need more support, pay to upgrade to the appropriate level.

Will It Work?

No idea.

That's why I'm positioning it as an experiment.

I love the sound of "I'll write your Welcome Series for $5."

Hope it catches on.

I'll report back.

Thanks for reading,

~ Cody

P.S. I would be remiss if I didn't just ask you to join Email School at this point.

C'mon, it's only $5.
