Deep Dive: Time to Get ScrappyMAILBOX MONEY?I wish I could say I wake up each morning, put on a robe, grab a coffee, walk to the mailbox, grab a stack of cash, and lounge around all day. My life's not like that. First, I'd have to go to the bathroom before doing that... And, even though I run a laid-back lifestyle business, it's not 100% on autopilot. This may come as a shock to you...But, I actually work. If my wife were to leave town with the kids and dog for a few days... I'd work. I'm typing this on a Sunday afternoon, after all. Christy's at the gym. Jake's at work. Other 2 kids are playing in the basement. Dog is napping at my feet. And I'm writing my newsletter. RECURRING REVENUE ENGINEIf I did nothing each month but fulfill my current clients, I'd make about $22,000 per month. Not bad, right? But sometimes, we need more. We're currently navigating the expense of three teenage boys (2 of whom are driving), summer vacations, and home repairs. Plus, I don't have a 100% retention rate, which means people leave. Plus, business expenses (ads, courses, software, etc.) Entrepreneur life, amirite? I'm I've never done it (yet). HOW I GET PAIDEvery month, I run a promotion that generates between $2,000-$10,000 and points people to my backend offers. The goal is to continue increasing recurring revenue on a month-over-month basis. Each month isn't always "up and to the right," but the trend is headed in the right direction. MANUFACTURED URGENCYA few weeks ago, we were in Hawaii. We'd been planning the trip for almost a year. Last September, my wife booked a big house for everyone (our 5, her parents, and my parents). Unfortunately, my dad got sick in October, after we had booked the house. His treatment lasted a few months, and he emerged healthy in early May. But... Doc wouldn't let him travel from Colorado to Hawaii. So we had a bit more space in the Airbnb, but one less couple pitching in. We had a lovely time in Hawaii, but it was quite a bit more than we had budgeted. In between shave ice, fresh mahi, and beach time, I hatched a plan. I figured I needed about $20K extra in the month of June. Game time. THE PLAN
When I'm coaching people, and they say they need to make money, I ask, "How much do you need, and how fast do you need it?" If you need a lot of money quickly, I've found the best way to do it is to sell your time. If you need to make a lot of money in the future, start a membership or coaching program. I DID ITI have a few more spots left on my July roster for the "Fastlane Funnel," but my manufactured urgency paid off. It didn't even take me the full month. Honestly? It wasn't a life-or-death scenario. And, no, I don't expect any pity because I went over budget on a Kauai vacation. However, it reminded me that I have what it takes to make as much money as I want, whenever I want, and as often as I want. Will increasing my monthly recurring revenue (MRR) help smooth out those months? Yes. That's what I'm working on. It'll just take time. Thanks for reading. ~ Cody "Creator" Burch What's Next:
