"And the winner is... Cody BURCH!"

As soon I heard my name called, I was filled with dread.

Here's the scene:

I was in 10th grade at a huge high school (about 5,000 total students) in an all-school assembly.

A handful of us were candidates for an academic award.

I didn't know if my name would be called, so I sat in the back.

To make matters worse, my right leg was completely immobilized due to a football injury from a few weeks prior.

An MRI revealed strained ligaments and bruised bones.

"And the winner is... Cody BURCH!"

Upon hearing my name, I deeply exhaled and looked up.

The stage seemed miles away.

I gingerly stood and started hobbling forward.

My immobilizing brace was under my pleated khaki pants, so onlookers assumed it was all a prank and started jeering from the stands.

It seemed like ages, but I finally took the stage to accept my award.

Now, I've emotionally healed from the sneers of my peers that day...

But my right knee still hurts ~28 years later

So last week, I went to the chiropractor to get it checked out.

When I explained what was going on, the doc cut me off.

"Yep! I know exactly what that is..."

He said my quads (upper leg muscles) weren't strong enough.

"Do some weighted leg extensions and tighten up those muscles, which will put less strain on your knee."

I was so relieved.

I didn't need to focus on everything all at once...

Just the next right step in my knee rehab.

So, as you help your customers, clients, and audience this week...

Don't overwhelm them with all the things they could be doing.

Just give them the next right step they need to make progress.
