A few years ago, I lost my job right before Christmas.

I didn't have the courage to tell my kids, who were 11, 14, and 16 then.

I was really scared about the next steps in my life.

So I met with my Pastor, Daniel, who gave me some sage advice.

I remember it like it was yesterday.

I sat on the couch in his office upstairs at the church.

After explaining my situation, he leaned in and said, "Don't ruin Christmas."

"You only have a few years left with the kids at home. Enjoy it. Put on sweats. Watch movies. Don't panic. Relax. January will be here soon enough."

So, as hard as it was, I relaxed.

I didn't print out a thousand resumes.

I didn't hover over my Indeed Profile or DM everyone with a pulse on LinkedIn.

I relaxed.

And I'm so grateful for that advice from Daniel.
