I'm not much of a "New Year, New Me" kinda person...

But on January 1, 2022, I committed to sending a daily email to my list.

I wanted to be the smartest person in the inbox.

I started strong.

Jan 1 subject line: "systems > resolutions."

Boom. Powerful.

Jan 2 subject line: "3 predictions for 2022."

Pow. Amazing.

Jan 3... the well ran dry.

I was out of ideas.

Uh oh.

I spent the entire day worrying about what my email would say.

I didn't want my streak to end 2 days in.

So, I rolled up my sleeves and typed out a story.

It was a simple story about how a mobile tire service came to our home to swap out my wife's tires on her SUV.

The subject line was "too convenient," and it was about how convenient the service was.

🤷‍♂️

I closed my eyes, hit send, and waited.

The world didn't implode.

The sky didn't fall.

I didn't put pressure on myself to be an inbox philosopher or thought leader.

I just told simple stories...

Over and over again...

Day after day...

Year after year...

And it worked.

People loved them.

Over time, I became a character in their inbox.

I lucked out.
