I spent the last few days with my youngest son, Ben (15), in Breckenridge, CO. We have 3 boys, and as they get older, the 1-1 time is really special. Like many 15-year-olds, he's not super chatty, but I didn't want a 2.5-hr drive to pass us by without an attempt at meaningful conversation. So I turned down the stereo and asked him, "Hey... what do you want your life to look like in 10 years?" I tried versions of this question with his brothers and was met with shrugs and "dunno's"... But the situation (driving into the mountains alone with Dad on a Monday afternoon) and the open-ended question got him thinking. He said he wanted free time to bike and ski while working on his YouTube channel. A few years ago, I would have told him he was crazy. But now? Makes sense to me. Sure, the details are fuzzy (career, family, college), but the destination is clear for him. Now he just needs to reverse-engineer the lifestyle choices that will get him there. How about you? I'm assuming you're not 15 years old (but you look so young!)... So I'll give you a shorter time horizon. What do you want next summer to look like? How will you spend your free time? What trips will you take? What kind of offers will you make to your audience? What kind of revenue does the business make? Whatever comes to mind right now... it's possible. You know what you want the destination to look like. Now you just gotta reverse-engineer the steps to make the vision a reality. You got this, ~ Cody P.S. I know my daily emails are usually about list-building and offer-making... so I hope you enjoy this brief detour into lifestyle design. I've found this exercise extremely valuable, and I hope it helps you start planning an unforgettable Summer 2027 now. |
